GB2312-encoded pages use the same font for asian and western characters. This
makes them very hard to read since monospaced asian fonts often have poor
quality western characters which are spaced too far apart.

Applications such as gedit seem to get this right: if I tell it to use a western
font, it uses that for most characters and uses an asian font for the asian
characters.

As far as I can see there's no way to achieve this mixture of fonts at the moment.
