Optimumonline.net speed test using Firefox 1.0.1 consistently shows less than 1
MEG download speed. Similar results with DSL Reports speed tests. Bandwidth
Tester add-in shows only about 400K! Same computer, same everything, IE
consistently demonstrates speeds above 8 MEG! My system is a Dell dual-Pentium
4's, 2 GIG RAM, XP Pro SP2, Optimum Online cable modem.

Reproducible: Always
I may be out of my depth here, but are there any resources that cover tuning
Firefox for browsing situations with fast or very fast connections?
Discovered nearly 100 entries in prefs.js from very old Autofill and Autoform
extensions not currently used or installed in Firefox. Deleting those entries
immediately restored speed to levels comparable to IE.
