User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1 Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.0 (20041206) The "Summary" says it all, I download the file, following all instructions save it to disk, drag the icon to Thunderbird and it says "Invalid File" and won't install Note: The same extension for Firefox works great (Put me down as a "5" And a friend of mine who's only complaint is the difficualty in posting user comments also give sit a "5" But he (and I) would like a linke to a "User comment" other than bugzilla so we can rate the thing with perhaps a one or two line comment instead of a full bug (yes this is two issues, one developer and one mozilla webmaster) No reply needed other than "It's fixed" thanks. I only run T-bird on this one machine Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Download Thunderbird extension to hard drive 2.Drag and Drop the extension onto Thunderbird's window (any of them) 3. There is no step 3 Actual Results: Extension refused to install,,, Every time with a "Not a valid <type> file" message Expected Results: "Installed" message Since it did not install,,, there were no secondary issues no crash, no .. Anything at all Tried re-downloading using a better connection, same result Tried re-downloading again, Same result

Reporter: if I undestand you, you are trying to install an extension which has been saved to your hard disk before. to install an extension, go to Tools-->Extensions-->Install and chose the .xpi file which you want to install. drag and drop might work on the "extensions" window in thunderbird, but is, as far as i know, not supposed to work on any other window in thunderbird. about the "User comment": this is hopefully implemented soon in addons.mozilla.org
This is a link problem on the Mozilla Update - Extensions for Thunderbird. The link to get Auto Copy is https://addons.mozilla.org/core/install.php?passthrough=yes&uri=http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/auto%20copy/auto_copy-0.5.0-fx+tb.xpi This is unreachable for download by right-clicking in Firfox. I had to get the extension from http://autocopy.mozdev.org/ , the link provided there http://downloads.mozdev.org/autocopy/autocopy-v0.5.3.xpi Is right clickable and downloadable. But it doesn't stop there: You then have to open extensions in T-bird, then DRAG AND DROP the file into the extension box. It doesn't open a dialog box for install. Haven't even used the extension yet, I think all the downloads are actually attempts to try and download...

okay, now I understand the problem! 1. got to https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=thunderbird&version=1.0&id=383 2. Right-Click the link "Install Now" and choose "Save Link As..." actual results: a file install.php.htm (27 bytes) is downloaded. content of the file: Invalid URI cannot Continue expected results: download and save the .xpi file to your hard disk

I think it has something to do with the space in the name. I see the XPI in http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/auto%20copy/
