When Zone Alarm is activated Web Browser cannot connect to websites. I always
get a time out error.

Reproducible: Always
Have you added Firefox to the Zone-Alarm
list-of-programs-allowed-to-access-the-internet? Otherwise it sounds like the
firewall is doing its job..
this is a problem with your firewall (wrong configured ?).
