To clarify: I have been a Mozilla user for a long time and the download manger
is good, for each file you download, you can choose where to put them. Firefox
howver does not let you do this, only in the options can you choose say a
download folder.

This is bad, the firefox download manager should work the same way as the
mozilla one does, This is a big issue and will frustrate users from switching
from mozilla to the firefox browser.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. select file to download
2. try to put in a subfolder of your choosen download folder
3. you can't and you can't create other subfolders or browse when using the
download manager

Actual Results:
I had to swtich back to using mozilla as firefox does not cut it with the
current silly download manager

Expected Results:
The downlaod manager in firefox is THE big let-down , it needs to function the
sme way as mozilla 1.7x does. Why break something that wasn't broken

Please get rid of the silly download manager in firefox and use the one from
Mozilla,

Thank you for your time

duplicate of bug 217109, that has a status of WONTFIX.

I am not understanding the logic here, why would you have a download manager
that only puts files in one place, surely the code for a file browse in tiny and
simple at the point where you are asked to open or save the file,

Let me give you a real world example: Downloading Dell Drivers (somehting I do
at work often as an IT sys admin. the file name is not that helpful and when you
want to creat a sufolder for zga then put the vga driver there, then go back
(whilst vga is still downloading and select the next driver audio, save that to a
new folder called audio that you create from the download manager.

The firefox download manager sucks big time compared to that of mozilla, I would
suggest either use the mozilla dl manager or at very least give the user the
chance to browse to where they want the file and give the standard browsing
buttons so you can navigate up a level, create a new folder or just click save
in the current location.

I fail to see any logic in only downloading to one folder and if the user wants
to move them around they have to go do that manually for each file between
downloads, if just doesn't make any sense.

Again thank you for your time
