User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2

I upgraded to Firefox 1.0.2 to find that the Navigation toolbar and Bookmarks
toolbar do not work. This is to say
 1) "page forward/back" does not light up to allow one to move in the history of
pages viewed.
 2) Home page icon does not take me to the "Home page" set

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade to Firefox 1.0.2 from previous installation of Firefox
2. try going to home page that had been previously set to anything other then
www.mozzila.org
3. try navigating into a series of pages, and then backing up on that using
Forward/Back icon buttons

Expected Results:
2:Homepage always takes you to www.mozilla.org
3:URL's do not show up when clicking into links,
URL's do not show on "mouse over"
Tarang, can you tell me what the file permissions are for your Firefox profile
files located at C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[random characters.[profile name]] I'm especially
interested in permissions on your history.dat and bookmarks.html. It sounds like
you no longer have permission to modify those files.

First of all as I couldn't do much with Firefox 1.0.2 so I had it uninstalled.
Currently I am running Firefox 1.0 Preview release
As for the permissions to history.dat and bookmarks.html, they are the default
permissions i.e read/write + ready for archiving + allow indexing service to index
I saw something very similar after downloading today's nightly build. I have
Firefox 1.0.4 on my machine already, and downloaded the nightly bulid (the Zip
file) to verify that a bug I filed had been fixed. I unzipped the Zip file,
ran Firefox [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2)
Gecko/20050512 Firefox/1.0+] from there, and it seemed to work fine. I went
back to running the regular 1.0.4 release. Then, I went back to running the
nightly build, and lo and behold I see what Tarang sees -- I see only disabled
buttons, an always-empty location box (unless I type something into it),
nothing on my bookmark bar, etc. Sounds rather similar.

Perhaps I should not be trying to run both 1.0.4 and 1.1, but I thought I'd
mention this since it sounds very similar.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a

(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
