User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050322 Firefox/1.0.2 SUSE/1.0.2-0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050322 Firefox/1.0.2 SUSE/1.0.2-0.1 Used software: Firefox 1.0.2 SuSE 9.2 KDE 3.4.0 Gtk2 2.4.9-10.1 Kernel 2.6.8-24.11-smp Software installed through APT-system using ftp://ftp.linux.ee/pub/suse/apt/SuSE/9.2-i386/ This mirror is created from ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse/ and synchronized daily at 7:10, 15:10, 23:10 When I added from http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/central.html#central-engines the following search engines: # LEO - English to German translator # IMDB - The Internet Movie Database ...then after once using them (no matter, which one), then after restarting Firefox, were bookmarks gone... But, if to open bookmark management - they are there! Doublechecked permissions and owner/group - everything were right (600 for rights and user:users for owner:group). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. As root user, go to http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/central.html#central-engines and install the following search engines: # LEO - English to German translator. # IMDB - The Internet Movie Database. 2. Open as user Firefox and use one of those search engines and close Firefox after that. 3. After reopening Firefox, bookmarks are gone... But if you open bookmark management - they are still there... Actual Results: I loosed my bookmarks... If I didn't have backup, it could be big problem. But I had backup :) Expected Results: Bookmarks should not disappear after using self installed searching engine!

I am not sure what you mean by "bookmarks are gone... But if you open bookmark management - they are still there" If the bookmark manager has all the bookmarks, in what sense are they gone? Are you saying that one or more of the User interfaces to the bookmarks is incomplete or not functional. If so, could you give a fuller recipe for reproduction.

> If the bookmark manager has all the bookmarks, in what sense are they gone?
After adding those searching engines and after USING them (at least once), you
can open pull-down menu "Bookmarks", then it's empty. You can close Firefox and
reopen it - this bug remains active. I made backup before from my profile and
then I just restored old profile and so I returned my bookmarks... But this is a
workaround, not solution.
Or look to bookmarks toolbar - it's also empty. But if you open "Manage
bookmarks", then you can see those bookmarks. So, they are just not shown.
But this will happened ONLY after you install and use those searching engines,
otherwise Firefox is working properly.
