I haven´t this problem with Mozilla 1.8 Alpha 5 or older versions.
wfm Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050324

URL: http://www.rlpforen.de/forumdisplay.php?f=41 or http://web.de/

Please don't put two URLs into the URL: box, if you click the URL: the URL is
loaded, or you can save from it. Anyway, you can put multiple URLs into the
comments. Very long URLs are working in the URL: box, but are broken in a comment.

I don´t understand Mozillas Comments in comment 0.
Do you have extensions installed?
Are these the only non-working links?
Does it work if you click on the URLs in this comment?
Are you using a proxy?

Both URLs WFM with Mozilla 1.8b1, could this error message come from a Squid
proxy that you didn't use with IE?

WFM with 1.8b1, but I don't use Squid (or another proxy). Did you try changing
the various Connection Options (File>Preferences...>Advanced>HTTP Networking)?
Ehh, make that Edit>Preferences...>Advanced>HTTP Networking.
Edit>Preferences...>Advanced>HTTP Networking

HTTP 1.0 with Keep-Alive and without Keep-Alive
HTTP 1.1 with Pipeling and without Pipeling

it isn´t the solution.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
