User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2

On two different machines, one running W2K and the other W98SE.

When I attempt to install an extension, the error message indicates that the
file is not a valid installation script and the install fails.

This will happen 100% of the time on the W98SE machine and about 90% of the time
on the W2K machines.

I tried setting the OS to Windows and to ALL. I also tried setting the version
of FF to various values; nothing works. I have also tried clearing the cache and
than closing and restarting FF; this too did not work.

I looked through the bug list and find similar problems, some of which seem to
have been resolved, some which have not.

I have been using mostly Googlebar as the test, though the problem occurs with
all the extensions.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.bring up extensions
2.select all extensions
3.set the OS to windows or all
4.attempt to install an extension

Actual Results:
Error message that the file is not a valid installation script.

Expected Results:
Installed the extension.

The problems started recently. The Win2K machine (the one this is being typed
on) will work about 10% of the time and will update the current extensions
without a problem. The W98SE machine will not install any extensions, though
themes seem to work fine.
