Since this morning, daylight saving time (from 2.00 am to 3.00), when I startup
my Thunderbird mailclient it's going to create a summary file for the current inbox.

Message "Building summary file for Inbox". My inbox contains around 700 messages
right now, and it takes 2 mintutes to complete the building time for the summary
file.

Before 2.00 AM Thunderbird didn't build a summary file each time I (re)startedup
the mailclient. If I close the program and start it up again, the proces starts
all over again.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Load a summary file, instead of creating a new one everytime i start the mailclient.

I'm using version: "version 1.0 (20041206)"
bug 266837 seems to be related
Workaround found.

I have removed/deleted all .msf files which where in my Thunderbird profile. The
summary file's are now being saved after Thunderbird closes. At this point it
seems to be a Windows 98/ME only bug, there where more people with the same
problem at the same time. See here:

The bug is still there!

Looks like bug 136049.
Two windows machines had this problem today... (or it's maybe bug # 289369).
Some more info - almost all computers with windows here (say 20 of 30) had this problem - most did rebuild their *.msf files, but some failed and were rebuilding them every time thunderbird started. Deleting *.msf + 30-60 minutes for rebuilding them /0.5 - 3 G mail/ solved the problem in the worst cases. We have Win 98, 2K and XP with Thunderbird 1.0.4(updated) ... 1.0.7 and one 1.5.0 beta 2 (had problems too on WinXP), Bulgaria, EEST -> EET. My 2 linux boxes had no problems.
Doncho, were they FAT or NTFS partitions on the affected boxes?
Summary: Continuesly building summary file after daylight saving → Continously building summary file after daylight saving

I'm not sure for two of them, the rest are using FAT.

I have had this problem on-and-off at various times with Thunderbird - but not had it for a while. I've always found the rebuilding successful - at least until the next time it happens. I'd not associated the problem with Daylight Savings Time but it is interesting that it happened this weekend and hasn't happened for at least a good few months previously. (Could it have been when the clocks went back last time? It's certainly possible.) Up 'til now, I was guessing it was something to do with my profile being on a file server. I'm using Thunderbird 1.5 on Windows 2000 with NTFS.
Unless anyone has any problems, I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of Bug 136049.
Marking as DUPE
