On secnews.netscape.com, the newsgroups netscape.mozilla.firebird and netscape.mozilla.thunderbird have been around for a long time, and have been used for user support. Because of the name change from Firebird to Firefox, I didn't feel that listing them on the support page was appropriate. Now, netscape.mozilla.firefox has been created. The following newsgroups should be added: snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.firefox snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.thunderbird
Do you mean netscape.*public*.mozilla.firefox, etc., or is there yet another newsgroup hierarchy?

I don't mean the public hierarchy. The first set of groups, already listed on the support page, are not propagated to usenet, which the public groups are. The groups snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.firefox, and snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.mozilla.thunderbird are part of that first set of groups.

I've taken out the OS specific groups, to make it simple: 1 newsgroup per product.

I've made a small edit to the previous patch, changing the name of the suite newsgroup label from "Mozilla Application Suite" to "Mozilla Application Suite (Mozilla 1.x)" just to coincide with the product URL.

FWIW, if anyone is waiting for me to check this in, don't. I don't have a CVS account.

Comment on attachment 179640 [details] [diff] [review] Fixed name for Mozilla Suite. Daniel, I think you'd be a more appropriate reviewer for this.

Is this worth checking in, now that a new server is eminent? I say no.

Comment on attachment 179640 [details] [diff] [review] Fixed name for Mozilla Suite. Clearly the patch is out of date. May as well keep the bug open, for adding the new support groups, after the new server goes live.

Now that the new support groups are up, the entire paragraph under the "Newsgroups" heading needs to be changed. The Firefox and Thunderbird groups need to be added, and the Suite newsgroup link needs to change. We also need to put in links to mailing lists; and more. As such "Add Firefox and Thunderbird newsgroups to Support page" just isn't the right bug to use. I'm marking this as INVALID, and I'm going to file a separate bug, that we can add to a meta bug for the websites changes resulting from the new newsgroup hierarchy.
