I uninstalled it, and then installed version 1.0.2. Now with 1.0.2 the "Get Mail" icon produces no response. BUT... When I pull the menu down and click on "Get All New Messages" it gets the mail properly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open TBird 2. Go online 3. Click "Get Message" Icon. No result 4. Can Pull the menu down, click on "Get All New Messages". Gets mail OK Actual Results: Can get email, but it's a minor, consistent bug in the program Expected Results: Downloaded email upon click to icon on bar

go to Tools-->Account Settings-->(insert account name that doesn't get checked)-->Server Settings-->Advanced-->tick "Include this server when getting new mail" please tell us if this solves your problems
This did not solve the problem. I then uninstalled Thunderbird. Next I Downloaded the most recent version, shut off my computer. Re-started it, and installed Thunderbird 1.0.21.exe. Results: No change in use of "Get Mail" icon. Note that simply clicking on the toolbar button performs a Get New Messages *only* for the account (or newsgroup) selected in the Folder Pane. This works perfectly well for me with TB 1.0.2, Win2K.

Problems solved. Deleted the file that kept a record of the number of emails received. (It was showing all the email letters, even after they had been deleted.) Once this was deleted, the "Get Mail" icon began working. - Jim
