User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-FR; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050318 Firefox/1.0.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-FR; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050318 Firefox/1.0.2
When displaying a PDF file (with integrated Acrobat) from a site with a favicon,
the favicon is displayed in the tab, but not in the location bar.
When creating a bookmark pointing to this PDF file, the favicon is not used.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open http://europa.eu.int/constitution/download/oth180604_3_fr.pdf in a tab.
2. Make a bookmark for this page and then click on it (to refresh its icon -
it's a known bug).
Actual Results:
The tab icon is the favicon of the site.
The location bar icon is the default one.
The bookmark icon is the default one.
Expected Results:
- The favicon should be used for tab, location bar and bookmark.
OR:
- The favicon should not be used. The default icon should be used for tab,
location bar and bookmark.

Works for me:
-Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050329
Firefox/1.0+
-Public Release 1.2.0 French language pack
In both cases I view the page in the 2nd tab and saw the favicon. I then saved
the page as a Bookmark and the favicon showed up there (given that I clicked on
it, but that is a known bug like you said). I then went to a different page,
clicked on the bookmark under the Bookmark menu and all three favicons showed as
they should.
Which operating system are you using, Win XP Home or Win XP Pro? Are you using
any plugins that have anything to do with how a page loads or with favicons?
If you are able to download an English version of Firefox, please try one of the
nightly builds we put out daily for testing purposes. They are available at the
bottom of this page: http://www.mozilla.org/developer/ Make sure you click
Windows for Firefox.
Thank you.

Thanks William,
I downloaded this version to do a new try:
-Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050330
Firefox/1.0+
So it doesn't work either. Same behaviour as in my first report: the favicon is
only used in the tab.
I'm using Win XP Pro (2002 SP2 French) and Acrobat 5.0.1. And I disabled all
extensions in Firefox.

Juste after sending my last comment I tried many times again to open the PDF
file in the same Firefox session, and it worked fine only one time: I had all
three favicons, but then Firefox got a very abnormal tabbrowsing behaviour and I
had to quit it (bookmarks opening in the bad tab, PDF tab can't be closed...).
Hope that can help...

Just recently I made a custom search here at Bugzilla one of my favorites. As
you know, the mozilla.org site has a favicon. I, like you, now only see it's
favicon on the tab, but also in the address bar. The Bookmark has the default
favicon (a white page).
I will add a keyword, "qawanted," to make note that more verification of this is
required. Once that additional QA help is recieved, this bug will be handled
accordingly.
Thank you.
Also, if you are able to recreate the tabbed browsing error, please submit that
in another bug report. Thanks.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a

you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
