Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2

If performing a version-upgrade through the auto-update mechanism, the installer
does not detect that the user has moved/remaned/deleted Firefox's default
Desktop Icon, Start Menu Groups, and Taskbar Quick-Launch Icon, and then
recreates all of these.
If the user never wants desktop and quick-launch icons the upgrader should
recpect instructions given to the original installation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firefox (any out-of-date version) and tell it to not create desktop
icons or a quick-launch icon or a start menu group.
2. Upgrade Firefox, either through the auto-update or by downloading the
installer manually.
3. Be annoyed that Firefox cluttered-up your clean desktop, taskbar and start menu.

Actual Results:
Firefox upgrader creates the icons and groups mentioned.

Expected Results:
It should have remembered instructions given to the last installer, rather than
forcing each minor upgrade to re-enter all installer configuration data.
Isn't this just bug 245392 ? Or do you want to point out that the installer
should write the decision in the register, so that a later installation or
upgrade can find it back ?
