We have thunderbird deployed on 16 workstations all of which access
their accounts using IMAP.  The server is Courier IMAP version 1.7 and
uses maildir++  We are running thunderbird ver 1.0.x on windows 2000 SP4
, XP SP2, and Mandrake Linux 10.1.  This issue occurs in all these platforms.

We are experiencing an intermittent problem with some email messages not
showing up in thunderbird.  If we check the account with outlook or
webmail (squirrelmail) we will see a new unread message.  If we check
with thunderbird, we will not see the new message.

What is strange is that once yet another message arrives, that one will
be visible but the "mystery message" still will not show up.  Often if
we just wait (sometimes a day or more) the message will suddenly show
up.  We have found that we can force it to show up by accessing the IMAP
account using outlook or webmail and marking the message as read, then
marking it as unread and then it will show up in thunderbird.
