id like it if there was a way to set a countdown to a specific event so at a
glance you could see how many hours/days/weeks/months where left to that event.

Reproducible: Always
Reporter:
This might work, but it would require a good, easily accessible place to put
the countdown. Do you have any suggestion as to where that might be properly
displayed?

The countdown could be displayed as a tooltip like title, date and status.

Summary: a countdown feature to an event. → Countdown to an event
This would indeed be a nice feature to have, but one that would only appeal to a small number of users and therefore be better suited for an extension.

Please note that there already is an extension for Firefox which can show a countdown: Countdown Clock. It would have to be modified to get its data from a task or event.

Marking WONTFIX.
