Details
Currently I am listed as a default owner for new bugs for Rhino product. Since
it does not look like I would contribute to the project in future, having my
email as bug owner is equivalent to /dev/null.

Brendan, since Igor is the Module Owner for Rhino and he's not going to be
contributing to it in the future, should we consider retiring the project or
simply leaving it ownerless?

Rhino is an much-used JS-in-Java engine. No way are we retiring it. I'm sorry
Igor doesn't have time to own it, but like many other modules we host, losing an
owner doesn't mean the code goes away.
Igor, do you have any suggestions for a new owner? Norris, you still out there?

No activity on this in a while. I need a person to step up so I can make the change.

Attila, are you willing to be default bug assignee?

I reassigned Rhino's bugs assigned to me to a temporray account please_see_bug_288433@eml.cc not to misslead folks about the status of the bugs.

Why not have them assigned to a dummy address by default, which people can bugzilla-watch if they want to see all such bugs? I believe that's the pattern used elsewhere.
Comment 8•19 years ago

I made the default owner be nobody@mozilla.org; people can watch the QA contacts if they want to follow all bugs.
I'll move the ones assigned to please_see_bug_288433@eml.cc as well.

I've been trying to look and work through some bugs, but it looks like I don't have sufficient Mozilla privileges or something - i.e. the only activity I can do on say, 282617 is "Leave as NEW" - no options for taking ownership, marking it as resolved etc. Can you help me with that?

Thanks, although this still doesn't allow me to either assign the bug to myself or mark it as resolved. I get an error saying, i.e.:
"You tried to change the Status field from NEW to ASSIGNED , but only the assignee or reporter of the bug, or a sufficiently empowered user may change that field."
