Threading is a neat feature and all, but there's one drawback. When you have
threading enabled, new messages are placed into their thread and this may not be
at the top of the screen. I suspect that Thunderbird is using the first message
as the sort criteria for thread order. However, it would be more useful if it
used the _newest_ message in a thread. That way, when a new message gets put
into a thread, the thread is elevated and everything new appears at the top.

Mutt has this feature and is enabled by:

set sort=threads
set sort_aux=reverse-last-date-received

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:
Threads with the newest message should appear on top.

When sorting by date, the newest message in the thread *is* used for ordering
the threads. All other criteria use the topmost message in the thread.

This happens, except: as new messages arrive, the threads are not reordered.
If that reordering is the behavior you want, please mark this as a duplicate of
bug 262319. Otherwise, this bug should be marked as Invalid.

btw, multiple sort criteria is bug 57898.
No response from reporter, duping.
