User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 I downloaded an updated version of Firefox after deleting the version previously present on my emachines computer. Now everytime I click on the Firefox icon on my desktop to launch it, various files (eg., cookies.txt, secmod.db, etc., plus folders labelled: extensions, chrome, and Cache) suddenly appear on the desktop. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on Firefox icon on desktop 2. 3. Actual Results: various files (eg., cookies.txt, secmod.db, etc., plus folders labelled: extensions, chrome, and Cache) suddenly appeared on the desktop at the same time as the Firefox browser window opened. Expected Results: Only opening or launching the Firefox browser. I took a screenshot of the desktop after lauching the browser and saved it in MSPAINT. I wish I could included it as an attachment to this message. Perhaps I can send it when responding to your expected Email message.
Screenshot of desktop showing in 3rd & 4th columns most of files & folders (except the two bottom folders there) plus in the 2nd column the "extensions" folder and the two files below it; all that appeared automatically on launching Firefox.

Somehow the Desktop folder has gotten specified as Firefox's Profile folder.
What you can do is:
1. Close Firefox (File -> Exit)
2. From the Windows taskbar, Start -> Run, and type in
firefox -ProfileManager
and press OK
3. Press the "Delete Profile" button
4. In the confirmation dialog, press "Don't Delete Files". Deleting files here
would delete all the your desktop contents, so it's not a good idea to do.
5. Press "Create Profile", and follow through the wizard using the default
settings.
6. Press the "Start Firefox" button.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
