Suddenly I was instructed to create a new profile for Firefox 1.0.2, and all my
bookmarks, extra toolbars such as the Googlebar, and extensions were missing. I
had to restore my Windows XP system to an earlier time in that day to restore my
bookmarks. This had never happened before. If it happens again, is there a way
to get at least my bookmarks back? Thanks.

You were asked to create a new profile because your current profile was in use,
likely because Firefox had failed to shutdown correctly. In most cases, pressing
cancel on that dialog and rebooting your computer should fix the problem. If
not, then you need to follow the steps at
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile to start the profile manager and
select your old profile. People on IRC and in the forums would be glad to help
you out if needed. See http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/ .

I'm going to close this bug as INVALID, since there are already bugs opened on
improving Firefox's behavior in such cases, like bug 239223 and bug 253950.
