User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0)
Build Identifier:

I placed the unpacked files of the Firefox 1.0.2 Windows Installer onto a
SAMBA share. Running SETUP.EXE yields "Error: File not found INSTALL.INI" and
installation aborts.
With Firefox 1.0 this error did NOT show!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Unpack Firefox Setup 1.0.2.exe to SAMBA share
2. Doubleclick SETUP.EXE
3. See error dialog box

Expected Results:
Install Firefox

See 137380 too!
The same error was introduced in Firefox 1.0.2!
Firefox 1.0 installs without problems from this SAMBA share

are you running it via a unc path or from a mapped drive?

mozilla.1.jhermans@spamgourmet.com: does that really matter? the installer is
shared.

Both, the error does not depend on that.
And: after retesting today with FF 1.0 the error shows there too.
That's strange, because neither my PC (Windows 2000 with SP4 and all security
hotfixes installed) nor the Debian 3.0r4 Woody running Samba has changed since
yesterday or have been rebooted.

hrm, filemon logs might be useful (compare against a local installer)
Assignee: bugs → nobody
QA Contact: bugzilla → installer

Hmmm... seems like nobody was interested in dissecting the requested log?!
Please see bug reports 288962 and 288965 too!

Depends on: 137380
Version: unspecified → 1.0 Branch
