I think that Thunderbird keep empty article in a cache and do not try to read it again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. connect to news server 2. Try to download any article from a news group 3. Break connection in this time (reject connection from server) Actual Results: You will never get text of article Expected Results: Try to download text of article from a news server in next time.
what version are you running? I believe this is fixed on the trunk...
