If you send a message, but forgot to specify an recipient, you get a lot of
optical noise on the screen:

a 'Sending Messages' box showing a moving progressbar, also seen in the status
field, though nothing moves, as an error message box clearly states:

Send Message Error
Sending of messages failed.
No recipients were specified..... etc.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Mail Window
2. Click 'Compose'
3. Click 'Send'

Actual Results:  
ok: A dialog comes up asking for a subject, canceling inserts [no subject] into
the subject line.
not ok: the 'Sending Messages' box comes, fractions of a second later followed
by the 'Send Message Error' box.

The 'Sending Messages - [no Subject]' box shows
Status: Assembling Mail information...
Progress:  (a moving bar)



Expected Results:  
When the 'Send Message Error' is seen, kill the 'Sending Messages' window or at
least freeze the progress bar, as there is no progress, as long as the error
window is waiting.

Severity is minor, but as I find it highly annoying, think severity should be
normal.

Annoyance is not a valid criterion.

looks to me like the 
  Sending Message
  Assembling mail information
with the progress bar is generated first, but often shows up last
