OSX 10.4/Tiger

Over and over and over again, something like this happens:
  * I am in the middle of a mail compose
  * I leave that context and switch to another app
  * forget what I am doing and see the compose cursor still blinking, I type and ! the
    typing shows up in the other app

This is a huge UI violation, basically we should stop blinking the cursor when the compose window loses 
focus.
