I have Thunderbird configured to put a copy of all sent messages in my Sent
folder. Sometimes, sending a message will hang, with the dialog box saying
something like, "Moving message to sent folder." It just stays there, unable to
continue. The mail is sent, but no record is kept in the sent folder.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose a new e-mail message.
2. Send it to the recipient.
3. If you're (un)lucky, sending will effectively take forever, claiming that
it's moving the message to the "sent" folder.

Actual Results:
I had to cancel the sending of the message (six hours later!).

Expected Results:
Moved the message and released the dialog box.

I haven't noticed any obvious correlation between this happening and the number
or type of recipients. I normally send e-mail in plain text, and this happens
even on messages without any

However, the latest message to which this happened was sent in UTF-8, and
included several Hebrew characters. Maybe that's important.

Also, my Sent folder is pretty large (170+ MB), so perhaps this is causing problems?
I experience a similar problem, but the message *does* get copied to the "Sent"
folder, only the dialog stays open.
I can safely cancel the dialog and continue using Thunderbird as normal.

I am using an IMAP account and Thunderbird 1.1a (alpha1, not latest trunk yet).

This bug seems to occur more often with larger messages (with attachments), but
my folders have a normal size I suppose (Inbox: 1142 messages, Sent-folder: 549).

I have this problem. I use Imap for my mail, but have a local Sent folder.
If I do not browse my sent folder, the problem does not occur.
However if I have recently opened the sent folder, the there is a very
high chance that sending email will hang forever waiting to copy the mail to
the sent folder.

I find clicking offline and then back online appears to avoid the problem, but
only if done before you send the email.
I have this exact problem on WinXP. I don't think this is Mac-specific. Both inbox and sent folder are IMAP folders.

The dialog goes to 100% and the message actually gets copied to the sent folder, but it never closes.
