Hi !
In Mozilla mail I have an option to auto-compress.
In Thunderbird I cannot found same option.

I think, that some enchantment needed in mailer options, and folder options.

The idea is that:
An global option:
- compress folders that a.) size more than X Kb b.) older than n day
- autocompress a.) on start b.) on open c.) periodically N minutes/Hours d.)
after delete (after 5 sec):

Local option (on folder):
- autocompress

Global options:
Compress all folders in all accounts.

Reproducible: Always
Yes there is, but it's a bit hidden, because it's part of the 'offline
extension'. See Tools->Options->Advanced->Offline Settings.

Dupe of bug 260252, bug 286888 would make this moot.
