Everytime when I want to go to the first char in line, I go to the first line in doc. That is very hateable thing ! Please exchange this, if possible ! See the Context Editor for example. Reproducible: Always

Firefox isn't an editor, but a browser. On the trunk, it will work like you want, when you're using Caret Browsing (press F7 to enable that). Then you see a cursor, and home/end will only work on a line. See also bug 262668.

This isn't view source.

This works how other editors work -- notepad or Word for example. Are you suggesting we act differently from other common editors?

In my machine not. I show an example in attachment (in a zipped PDF file). I
try to use Home and End keys in Source Viewer, and in Notepad.
The result is not same - and that is the problem.
I hope that you understand, what I say about.

Okay, by the time I saw your bug it had no mention of view source :/ Anyway, yo ucan use the F7 key to toggle the caret on and off in the browser or view source. At that point home and end work the same as in notepad.
Summary: Home and End key usage confusion → Home and End key usage confusion in source view

(In reply to comment #5) > Okay, by the time I saw your bug it had no mention of view source :/ Sorry. PossibleI forget it. > > Anyway, yo ucan use the F7 key to toggle the caret on and off in the browser or > view source. At that point home and end work the same as in notepad. I have Mozilla 1.0.2 Hungarian. In this version (as you see in attachment) I vainly toggle in caret mode on/off, because the Home and End keys always goto to the "borders" of document, not of actual line. You trying with bigger version of Firefox ?

Yes, I'm using nightly builds: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=290307 Marking invalid. Works as designed. Notice that readonly documents that don't support the caret generally support the same keystroke model. Once the caret is toggled on, the keyboard model changes. You can always copy and paste the source into a notepad and use the keyboard however you want from there.

I trying with 1.0.3 - and that is also not working. See the attachment (pdf doc) 2. If really true what you say, then I not like firefox source functions... I hate IE, Opera is good - but Firefox is better. I like Firefox, but if I need it in Web designing/developing, I very-very hate firefox keystroke models !!! Everytime I push Home and End Keys, because I is a standard rule in every aplication. So a little funny, that Firefox, what want to replace IE, cannot follow the common way of keyboard handling !

Nightly builds are not 1.0.3: See http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ Anyway, we're not going to be changing view source keys.

Ok, I understand it. In Webdevelop I use Opera... But why ? Why ? I think that is very simple, because it is the normal wokring mechanism in Windows (in Linux I don't know).

I think that is may be an enchantment - in future. In source view the Home key is move cursor to first char of act. line, End key is move cursor to last char of act. line.

No, source view works as designed. This is staying closed. Don't reopen it. If you want home/end to work like that use browse with caret (F7). If there are problems with the way browse with caret acts in source view, file a different bug for that.
