Build Identifier: Not Applicable

Consider allowing users to save report queries, so the above 800+ character URL
can be considerably shorter. ie:

http://mycompany.com:8080/bugzilla/storedReportURL.cgi?MikesQuery

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Generate a typical Component/Status report.
2. Email your collegue/manager the URL to the report.

Actual Results:
1. Report generated successfully.
2. Collegue/manager complains about obscene URL length and difficulty opening
the report.
3. Email program (MS Outlook) cannot even process a URL that long. It stopped
highlighting the URL at "bug_status".

Expected Results:
A shorter Report URL and/or stored Report Queries.

Stored Report Queries implies a need for access restrictions for shared or
personal reports.
Summary: 804 Character Report URLs are Too Long for Easy Collaboration → 800+ Character Report URLs are Too Long for Easy Collaboration

FWIW, we usually use http://tinyurl.com/ for this, in the Bugzilla team.

Perhaps an interface to TinyURL would be a simple solution, for the Bugzilla UI.
OS: Windows 2000 → All
Hardware: PC → All
Confidentiality of the URL is important for proprietary or company internal
projects.
tinyurl would potentially expose projects or products that have not been
released to a 3rd party or competitor.
Declutterring the URL (bug 290313) may help. We'll have to see if it helps enough.

Mikhail, want to fix this one too? Should be a nearly identical patch to the one we just checked in.
Sure, at next "ALT bugzilla maintenance & update" round.
