User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050408 Camino/0.8+
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050408 Camino/0.8+
Anytime I try to click a link in an application with Camino as my default
browser, it refuses to open. While Camino is running nothing matters, but it
refuses to launch at all otherwise.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make sure that Camino is not running.
2.Find a link in another app.
3.Click it!
Actual Results:
Nothing. However, while Camino was running the link opened just as expected.
Expected Results:
Launch Camino with the link in the current tab.
Is this a dupe of bug 289020?
This worked fine for me with 0.8.3 set to be the default, but failed when I
deleted 0.8.3 to allow LS to list the 20050414 nightly (it couldn't be chosen in
Camino's list--bug 289020--but Safari, MisFox, RCDefaultApp, etc., let me choose
"Camino (0.8+)").
I finally got it working by selecting Camino as the default in RCDefaultApp, by
chance double-clicking on a .webloc, and clicking OK on the "You are about to
open the app xxx... for the first time" (by double-clicking something, rather
than merely opening it, since I've launched this nightly about 5 times already)
$@$@$#@&%^&% LaunchServices dialogue. After I quit Camino, links from other
apps launched Camino, too.
warhawk92@adelphia.net, can you try the steps in the above paragraph and 1) see
if you get the "first time" dialogue and 2) if links from other apps then work.
Josh, FYI :-)

I don't think it's actually a duplicate of 289020. Even when Camino is set as default browser (e.g. using
Safari), it doesn't behave as expected (pop up and load link). Probaply both bugs have to do with
LaunchServices, but the problem described isn't the same.
Bug 289020 contains the problem that Camino refuses to set itself as default. I assume that in this bug
here Camino is already set as default and refuses to open links from external sources. (Personally I have
experienced this with URIs from NetNewsWire, for exampe.)
I don't want this resolved as a dupe anyway until the reporter verifies that the
steps I outlined in comment 1 fix the problem for him/her--or until Josh says so :-)
It may be that the root cause is the same even if the symptoms are wildly
different, but right now that's not clear to me.
