User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 An embedded Quicktime movie from a password-protected directory (with a qtaccess file, similar to .htaccess for Apache) on a QuickTime Streaming Server pops up an authentication window for username/password. (The username/password for the testpage mentioned above is test/test.) With Firefox 1.0.2 on a Mac it it not possible to type any text in the authentication window, so it is not possible to view the movie. It seems that Firefox doesn't give keyboard focus to the authentication window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make sure that Quicktime is installed 2. Go to http://janpieter.xs4all.nl/firefox_test/ 3. Try to type username/password (test/test) in the authentication window. Actual Results: Not possible to login because text fields in the authentication window don't receive keystrokes. Expected Results: Should make it possible to type text in the authentication window and send the credentials to the server when clicking OK button. Also reproduced the bug in the Mozilla suite and in the latest Firefox 1.0.3 nightly build. I filed the bug under 'OS Integration' because I have the impression that the nonresponsive authentication window is generated by the Quicktime plugin, not Firefox itself.

The problem persists in Mac OS X 10.3.9.

Problem confirmed in Mozilla 1.7.7. on Mac OS X 10.3.9. Interestingly, in Mozilla it is visible (in the status bar) that the characters which are meant for the login window actually end up in the underlying browser window: Mozilla uses them for the "Find on this page" feature.

Problem still exists with Firefox 1.0.4, QuickTime 7.0, Mac OS X 10.3.9.
Latest nightly+QT7 doesn't have the problem either. If this problem is not done with branch in fix, it is WFM or WONTFIX. Mac OS X 10.3.9 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; ja-JP; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050512 Firefox/1.0+

Downloaded Latest Firefox 2.0.0.4 in an attempt to resolve issue. Found I could now enter username and password, but when playing an *.asx file referencing *.wmv files under http authentication, and switching to a 2nd entry in the *.asx file, FireFox would crash. This happened to me once at an entry change, and once half way through a 2nd entry. Have given up on 2.0.0.4 and gone back to 1.5.0.8 At least that didn't crash during playback. Although obviously, I can't enter the username or password. Problems do not exist with FireFox on PC, or IE on PC or Mac, nor Safari on Mac.
