It seems to be an included shortcut for firefox, and doesn't usually open when
typing in a text field, although randomly it will, especially when using web
messengers from www.e-messenger.net or from webmessenger.msn.com. It doesn't
seem like a very good shortcut to have, since those keys are used alot. Any way
to disable it? I couldn't find one.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click anywhere on a page
2. Type ' or /
Actual Results:  
Find bar pops up, and instead of typing what I want into the field, it types it
into the find bar and messes up my spot on the page, and my text

Expected Results:  
Not poped up the find bar unless I type ctrl-f

Little side question: any idea when firefox will be able to support cursors
hosted for and displayed on a single website?

as for your last question, it's allready implemented in Firefox 1.1 which is
expected sometime this summer
