User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Build Identifier: Firefox/1.0.0,1.0.1,1.0.2 When update spawns the installer for the updated version, it says it must remove pervious version(s) of Firefox. After installing the update all previous versions are still seen under Add/Remove Programs. Reproducible: Didn't try

User-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 I just upgraded to 1.0.3 yesterday the same way you just described and it removed all entried in Add/Remove programs for me just fine.
