Reporter, just to be sure, did you press the button labeled 'delete' (in the block right above the arrow keys), or did you press 'backspace' (the top-right button of the main keyarea). I'm using the PC-terminology here, because most Mac keyboards use icons, and then it's more difficult. There's a lot of confusion between the delete and backspace keys. The backspace is often considered a 'backward delete', while the delete key is often the 'forward delete'. Note : I do have a Mac at home, but it's a laptop and it's missing the delete key at all, so I can't test. But I remember that shift-backspace (the top-right key of the main key area) used to work, at least a few days ago.
Summary: shift+delete does not remove form autocomplete history → shift+delete does not remove form autocomplete history

mac laptops lack a del key. (i am using a powerbook g4). therefore, the delete-from-autocomplete-history function is unavailable on mac laptops. also, the keybinding documentation on the firefox website is incorrect (it says 'shift-delete', not 'shift-del'.

Bug 271692 has mapped both shift+del and shift+delete to remove autocomplete entries (on mac), you can check that on a trunk nightly build, or wait for the 1.1 release. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 271692 ***
