I have the same problem with Thunderbird 8 and now 9. Digitally signed messages sent from TB do not get verified successfully by the recipients. However, messages digitally signed using the same certificate and sent from e.g. MS Outlook 2010 are delivered and successfully verified by any recipient. Note that if I receive such a digitally signed message in my TB (sent and signed by me, including as a cc or bcc one one of my own mail addresses), then TB does not show any problem with it.
