IIRC we already got a registered es-ES team, you might want to contact them if you want to help.

(In reply to comment #1) > IIRC we already got a registered es-ES team, you might want to contact them if > you want to help. If you look into http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/l10n/ it says: Un-owned! Original files provided by Oscar Manuel Gómez Senovilla <omgs@omgs.escomposlinux.org>, but he cannot do long-term maintenance. What is the suggested procedure to solve this?

ups, my fault. I did not look at the right page. As we (MLP staff) have lots of requests pending, please be patient. We will register you ASAP.

Gonis: please join to the es-ES mailing list, since there are now volunteers and this question can be discussed there. MLP Staff, please hold on for a while and you'll get news.
(In reply to comment #4) > Gonis: please join to the es-ES mailing list, since there are now volunteers and > this question can be discussed there. MLP Staff, please hold on for a while and > you'll get news. Sorry for the naive question, but where is such a mailing list and how can I subscribe?

(In reply to comment #5) > Sorry for the naive question, but where is such a mailing list and how can I > subscribe? As I, in confused haste, removed omgs from the CC list, he did not get the comment. Best would be to write an email to him directly.

(In reply to comment #7) > Here is the Nave localisers website : > http://nave.hispalinux.org/ > > There is a link to subscribe to their mailing list on the front page In fact, the right URL for the es-ES team is http://nave.escomposlinux.org/ and the mailing list is available at: http://www.elistas.net/lista/nave/ The team really needs a member willing to help with Mozilla Firefox, with enough knowledge of CVS and committed in the long run. Many people appears and disappears just after a few days, and long-standing members, like Oscar and me, don't really like the spirit of Firefox versus Seamonkey. IMHO, that is one reason why Oscar is keeping Firefox translation but asking for a replacement. Right now we have a senior member ready to assume the role of l10n contact for Mozilla Firefox translation, but all of us are "on hold" waiting for this bug to evolve, in order to avoid a double request. Please, let us know about you in the list and there we will be able to coordinate and designate a single member to be in charge of l10n updates to MoFo CVS.

Next friday we will either give a name to follow the registration process or state our withdraw from Fx l10n. I must point out that we haven't had any feedback from Isidro "GoNiS" Gonzalez at NAVE mailing list, in which looks like a recurring pattern: someone offers himself as a volunteer to help in Fx l10n and, after some days/weeks, nothing else is heard from him. Anyway, I again promise a definitive answer next friday 27th.

(In reply to comment #10) > > Next friday we will either give a name to follow the registration process or > state our withdraw from Fx l10n. Ok, so we haven't heard anything from GoNiS, but we have a volunteer (actually two) to register as "owner" for Firefox l10n. Now, should we stick to this bug to complete the required steps or should we better close this bug and then the owner-to-be open another one? Regards.

Please use this bug. If there are more people involved, we would like to know who will be the owner and who the peer. You can also have one leader of your l10n team and different people responsible for browser/mail/toolkit parts of localization. See our wiki page to get the idea - http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Localization_Teams In order to commit Spanish localization of Firefox, you need at least one memeber of your team with CVS access. So, the owner should apply for CVS account - see bug 263726 as an example. You need also provide this localization in form of CVS structure for review.

Hello, my name is Andres G. Aragoneses and I am the NAVE member proposed to be the CVS owner of the Spanish es-ES l10n. I have just created the required bug to request the CVS access and attached my ssh public key to it: bug 295894. I will send a new comment there when I send the CVS Contributor Form via fax. Regards.

Just for mlp clarification, and as still unofficial maintainer of Firefox, I bless Andr¨¦s G. Aragoneses (knocte) for acting as interface between the translators in es-ES team and Mozilla Foundation localization through his CVS account. I still keep the es-ES translation for thunderbird and the shared toolkit (maybe another new shared components too), but not firefox. Since this step has been recently taken, firefox maintainer is not 100% decided yet, but surely it will be soon.

Thanks for your comment Oscar. I have just sent the fax to the telephone number specified on the CVS Contributor Form webpage. Tomorrow I will send it also by snail mail. Regards.

Please attach the Fx files in the CVS structure for a review (or provide a link). After that review we can vote for your cvs acces.

Wow, the confusion finally made it to mlp-staff. We don't have "interface folks" on our CVS. We have an owner per locale/product combo and peers. Before Mozilla can approve any such a position, we need clarification on who is supposed to do which.

If you want to know who is going to actually translate browser locale files, who is going to actually translate toolkit, and so on, I don't think we are going to assign definite, static roles in a such "written in stone" way. It's nearly sure Oscar will keep translating toolkit and mail, and probably Andres will do a substantial work in browser, but is equally likely that I will help in browser if Andres is somehow short of time, and even toolkit and/or mail in case Oscar needed it. However, what is for sure at this moment is that all CVS commits will be done by Andres. We're providing Andres as a name for browser owner because you need a name, not because we intend to leave him on his own devices. Therefore, if you imply that being an owner requires CVS access, then Andres will probably need to be listed as toolkit/mail owner also, as Oscar wasn't willing to apply for one (but, anyway, I'll let him to speak for himself, in case he changes his mind). I hope this will make things look clearer.

On my side, and only if for this is blocking the access grant, I'm planning to maintain, by the moment, thunderbird and the toolkit (which is part of both tbird and ffox). Take the comments from Ricardo as the closest to true. If you need anything else, mostly that is blocking the resolution of this bug, please let us know.

Ok. Guys, to be clear here. I'm vouching for Andres, so I'll be the one from our side to take care about es-ES l10n. Andres is owner and he's responsible for es-ES locale bits. I don't care who will write patches or lead the course, but if anything goes wrong, we need to have a way to contact with Andres. Having that said, I'll try to get Andres account ready asap.
