Since it is form data, it should not be saved, and therefore should be cleared. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Type something in the search toolbar 2.Use "Clear Saved form data" in options->privacy 3. Actual Results: searchbar entry was not deleted Expected Results: searchbar entry should be deleted

Do you mean the current value of the search bar?
(In reply to comment #1) > Do you mean the current value of the search bar? Yes. If you type "omg" in the search bar, "omg" is still there after clearing saved form data.

The thing is, that value isn't "saved" form data, so there's no reason to clear it really. Would you want all text fields in all open web pages to clear too? I think this is WONTFIX.
The difference in this is that you can't just close the search bar like any other web page. Leave the data in the search bar, and go ahead and close firefox, then re-open it. Data's still there, being "saved." There is a difference.
> Leave the data in the search bar, and go ahead and close > firefox, then re-open it. Data's still there, being "saved." Not for me. FWIW, I don't think it should be cleared either. It's a valid enhancement request though, confirming.

Summary: "Clear Saved Form Data Now" does not clear search toolbar → "Clear Saved Form Data Now" should clear Search Bar's current contents

Leave the data in the search bar, and go ahead and close > firefox, then re-open it. Data's still there, being "saved." There is a difference. I don't see this behavior at all. A new instance of Firefox always comes up with a blank search box.

sorry for bugspam, long-overdue mass reassign of ancient QA contact bugs, filter on "beltznerLovesGoats" to get rid of this mass change

It's not form data, text is cleared after a new window is opened anyways, invalid. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060805 Firefox/1.5.0.6
