Request for key Attribute = DISABLE value for a [ComponentX] so that marking it so would be equivalent to a logical deletion of that component from the Setup Types.

isn't this done and working? doesn't Show Dialog=TRUE do the trick?
Show Dialog control whether a dialog is displayed, but not whether a component is enabled or disabled. We do have an attribute called DISABLED which greys out a component's checkbox. I believe that, if we really have a need for this, we can accomplish the functionality with: ATTRIBUTE=INVISIBLE|UNSELECTED. Interstingly, the bug this bug is supposed to be blocking has been closed. All of this adds up to my assessment that this bug is invalid, so I'm marking it so.
