I have noticed various problems with the font selection menu under Preferences. Is the fonts menu supposed to be working? If not, disregard this entire bug report. Most severe: "When a webpage chooses its own fonts" radio buttons, when selected, cause mozilla to segfault when "OK" is clicked. This problem occurs regardless of values of other inputs on the page. Reproduction: Load up Edit->Preferences->Fonts, and select a value for the radio button. Click OK. Less severe: When drawing up the fonts menu, each pulldown menu takes approx 5 seconds to load. (there are 5 font menus.) Perhaps this is because I am running xfstt with about 200 fonts installed, but it seems like a 550MHz SMP machine should be able to take it in stride. Perhaps there is a problem with mozilla/xfstt? After selecting fonts, and choosing OK, mozilla doesn't seem to remember your selection. Maybe this is related to the first problem.
You're using M13, right? The problems you're describing have been fixed, although there seem to be new ones in yesterday's build. Please mark this as a duplicate of bug 24581 if you are using M13.
side note: with a recent build [2000022308] i consistent see crashes when opening Fonts, making no changes, then clicking OK --see bug 27428 for details.
This works for me with a recent build. Marking fixed. Please re-open if you still have this problem.
