Critical update is found and when I click on "install now", the window changes to the "instllaing updates" window with no status bar and seems to do nothing. I have let this sit at this window for about 20 mins now with no change. Current internet connection is T1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on red circle with up arrow in it at the upper right hand of the screen. 2.Click on "install now" button 3. Actual Results: Changed to the window "installing updates" but does nothing. The "activity" rings spin, but no status display in the window. Expected Results: I suspect it should download the update and install it.

I have also experienced this when updating 1.0 to 1.0.1, 1.0.2, and 1.0.3. I fixed the problem by changing the Firefox setting "allow websites to install software" and entering "www.mozilla.org" as an allowed website. It seems to me that an easy way to fix this bug would be to default firefox to the above setting when it is installed, and create a warning-are-you-sure box if a user tries to disable the setting or delete mozilla.org as an allowed site. Then add a function to the update arrow that checks the status of that setting before allowing the user to click "install now."
I got the same problem with FIREFOX 1.0.3 and FIREFOX 1.0.4 on an WINDOWS XP machine with SP2, and solved it just like Dan McCloy, by allowing software updates.
