Firefox 1.03 will not start in normal or safe mode. Windows XP displays "encountered and error"

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; en) Opera 8.0 Build Identifier: Firefox 1.03 downloaded from firefox.com When trying to start Firefox 1.03, Windows XP displays the error message "firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinience." Tried to start in safemode, and get the same error. Also cannot edit profiles using run -> firefox.exe -profilemanager. Get the same windows error. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling (first deleted all directories). Tried installing Mozilla, and get the error message "mozilla.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinience." Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Double click firefox shortcut. 2. 3. Actual Results: "firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinience." error message was displayed Expected Results: Opened the web browser.
