User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Build Identifier: version 1.0 (20041206) Something changed somewhere along the line...not sure exactly when -- but a double click on a message or right-click(menu), and open message both show the "program launch cursor" (point w/hourglass), but no separate window opens. I have it set under Tools->Options->General: Open mesage in new window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. display a message (in "classic mode") 2. I double click on message (or "rightclick, open) 3. Actual Results: cursor change as though launching another window but no window pops up. Message still displayed in lower pane. Expected Results: Opened standalone window. This *Used* to work before I installed the last T-bird release. Think I was at "1.0PR" before this one. Couldn't find dup -- suspect it is something particular to some people's setups...(like mine - :-/ )

I have this same behavior, thunderbird 1.0.2 on Win2000. I have rebooted the machine and restarted Tbird a couple of times. control-O does not work either. Occasionally, when I try this, TBird starts using 100% of the CPU without visible effect. I've had to kill the program using Windows Task Manager. Help! Anyone have any idea what's going on here? rc

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. still a problem; forget I'd submitted the bug and was thinking about submitting it....maybe I would have found my initial submission...I do look, ya know! :-) -l
Still a problem in T-Bird 1.0.7!!! But in version 1.0.6 it worked (in my environment Win2k SP4)

From David Wright, Using TB 1.0.7, occasionally double click (or Right-click Open) on an Inbox item brings up an empty "Mail & Newsgroups" box. By repeatedly double-clicking (or Right-click Open) on items in Inbox (up to 10 times) eventually it works correctly and opens up the email message. This is a minor annoyance. It doesn't happen every time and often occurs mid way through reading a series of emails, after using Mailwasher free to delete spam emails before starting TB.

Is this bug still being seen in 1.5 builds? I can't say I've ever seen the problem.
Started working in 1.5
