User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 It has happened twice. On both my PC and laptop I use the same version of Firefox: 1.0.1. On my PC it upgraded automatically to 1.0.3. When finished it re-started abd I cannot log in to my home page: www.netscape.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again. I cannot log in to any address. On the same desktop PC I am loging in to this address (and any other) using Netscape 7.2. This had happened previously (about a week ago) and I had to completely unistall Firefox and re-install version 1.0.1 (which I had saved. I am writing this note from my laptop using windows 2000 NT and version 1.0.1 and before writing this report I compared all the settings under options and they are identical in both computers Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Re-install version 1.0. 2. Upgrade to 1.0.3 3. Actual Results: exatly the same: could not log in to any address Expected Results: login to my home page: Netscape.com

Reporter, your firewall is probably blocking the new Firefox version.

As suggested I unistalled firewalls. With Windows XP running there is no problem With Norton Internet Security Firewall the problem CONTINUES

You should not uninstall your firewall, you should open the firewall setup, remove the firefox entry and add it again. (because the Norton firewall is broken and doesn't notify the user that the Firefox.exe changed...) -> invalid Please don't ask such support questions here, use the mozillazine.org Forums.
