the first set of problems I see look related to the new extension manager
landing from Ben on 4/22.

I get a bunch of JS errors on intial startup and then the process spins back
down again.

i still get the following JS error even with the new prefs being added:

*** loading the extensions datasource
************************************************************
* Call to xpconnect wrapped JSObject produced this error: *
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [n
sIRDFContainer.Init]"  nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)"  location: "JS
frame :: file:///C:/build/trees/dbg/mozilla/dist/bin/components/nsExtensionManag
er.js :: getContainer :: line 241"  data: no]
************************************************************
A more general solution was proposed in bug 291709.
Fix checked in (thanks bsmedberg)
