User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3

When you try to do a manual download from the Java site, Firefox 1.0.3, Mozilla
1.7.7 and the K-Meleon build based on 1.7.7 crash. The K-Meleon build based on
Mozilla 1.7.5 does not crash and I have downloaded from this site with Mozilla
1.7.5. The crash message from Firefox is:

The instruction at "0x77fcc1e1" referenced memory at "0x00985c5e". The memory
could not be "written".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to the site and it crashes
2.
3.

Actual Results:
it crashed

Expected Results:
brought up a page with various Java downloads.
WFM - I was able to download both Windows (Manual Installation)and Windows
(Offline Installation) without Firefox crashing Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows
NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 (ax)
This works for me Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-FR; rv:1.7.7)
Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 . If you get more information on how to reproduce
the bug please reopen. You can get support here http://www.mozilla.org/support/ .

Change to the original. If you go directly to the url, it does work. Go to

http://java.com/en/

and click the "Manual Download" link. That causes the crash. Strangely, it
goes to the url I originally showed but causes a crash that going directly to
the url doesn't.

Are you using Firefox 1.0.3 or Mozilla 1.7.7 or a later build?

Is Mozilla Firefox 1.0.3.

Thousands of Firefox users use that site a day, several likely use that link. If
Firefox 1.0.3 crashed all the time on that page we would have heard of it already.

Could you try following step 1 paragraph 2 "Create a new Firefox profile"
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/bugs#latest to see if that fixes the problem.
Reporter:
Pleas eprovide a Talkback ID from that crash if you crash in the Firefox
safemode or with a new profile

Still works for me.
After having the crash work uniformly on three related browsers, I now can't get
it to work. Beats me what happened, but until I can get the thing to act up
again in a more uniform fashion, drop the bug.
