When anchor is specified inside a ID the styles does not work. And a.hover is
only working when its specified inside a class with no id.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a html file with three layers with id 1 2 and 3 every id with its own
anchor specifications
2. Open the HTML in FireFox 1.0.2
3.None of the styles works

Actual Results:  
Bug confirmed

Expected Results:  
The browser should have displayed the CSS according to w3c standards. 

Anchor styles works outside of IDs. But hover only works when its specified in
and accessed with a class.

IDs cannot begin with a number. See:
http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/syndata.html#value-def-identifier

Sorry, this does not solve the problem. And a:hover does not work if a:link is
defined after it...

Yes a:link will overwrite a:hover because styles cascade from top to bottom.

Please don't reopen this unles you have a valid testcase. As it is, this is
invalid per comment 3 and comment 5.
