User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050420 Debian/1.7.7-2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050420 Debian/1.7.7-2 We were looking at replacing Outlook with Mozilla Suite+Calendar, and what killed the deal was the inability to color code tasks according to priority. I went and looked at it myself and couldn't figure out how. I got the usual smarmy "I'm sorry for Christopher that Microsoft is so smart" commments from Sales. Gah! If Microsoft was as good as all that, as they think, Linux wouldn't even have been created. Reproducible: Always

Christopher: Unfortunately, I don't think this request is really feasible as it is phrased. Currently, events are already color-coded by calendar (background) and by category (border). Furthermore, the text color of a task is changed based on due date, so that's not an option either. There doesn't seem to be much of another way to color them that wouldn't override/conflict with them. As far as task priority goes, there are high/low visual indicators (! and down arrow, respectively) for priority, which might be as good as you're going to get. However, Sunbird/Calendar can always benefit from users brainstorms. If you can suggest a good way to implement this, then I'd be happy to confirm this request.

Perhaps the rephrase can go like this: We have a list of event properties that could be color coded on the calendar: * due date * category * calendar * priority * <name some others> We have a number of items we can color: * font * background * border What would be nice would be a way to arbitrarily assign properties to items for coloring; for instance: * priority displayed by font color * category displayed by background * calendar displayed by border Also, there should be a button or link to click on that would pop up a legend, so the user could refresh their memory as to what means what. The legend would, of course, correspond to the current configuration. I could argue that font and border styles might be useful, bet lets leave that alone for now.

if color task/event is so difficult can we use exclamation mark for high priority and italic font for low? I agree that priority is a field which is not used, you can set it but it does not change anything

Moving from blocking-calendar0.7? to wanted-calendar0.8?.

Setting wanted0.8- as the main Calendar developers will not devote any time to this in the 0.8 timeframe. Patches are, of course, always welcome.
