User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax) Under both Windows XP SP2 and Slackware 10.1, I am encountering a problem where I can load up Firefox 1.0.3 once, but if I close it during my logged in session, I am unable to reopen it, no matter how many times it's selected from a menu, no matter how many times an icon is clicked, and no matter (under Linux) I simply enter the "firefox" command. Under Linux it's even stranger because no error message is given after entering the "firefox" command. It just gives you the command prompt back with no output. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Firefox 1.0.3 in Windows XP or Linux 2. Close Firefox 3. Attempt to open Firefox again and watch it not load. Actual Results: In previous versions up to 1.0.2 I never experienced this issue, and I've been using Firefox since Phoenix 0.5 back in the day. :) Expected Results: It should have opened like any other program.
Is this still a valid bug? Try to confirm it with a nightly build http://www.mozilla.org/developer and report back whether this issue is still pertinent. Otherwise, this bug will be marked INVALID for for inactivity in excess of 60 days (pre-1.0.4). I am self-assigning to track this bug and will reassign to original owner if this bug is still valid.

I re-installed the original setup file from Nov 2004, on top of the existing program, afterFirefox failed to open for one week, and it returned to normal.
Resolving as INVALID for lack of updates. James, if you're still having this issue with Firefox 2.0.0.3 or later and can reproduce with a new profile, please file a new bug with details.
