User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 I received a pop-up on the site http://www.planetvids.com/ (actually, on a page of that site, but the same thing occurs on the homepage, and presumably all or most pages). This was a completely unrequested window that opened, I did nothing other than load the page. I was able to determine with reasonable assurance that this is due to an embedded flash movie, although I may be wrong. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable the pop up blocker; enable flash; enable javascript(?) 2. Load the page on that domain 3. Within a few seconds, a pop-up window will appear. Actual Results: got a pop-up Expected Results: not have gotten a pop-up I was able to determine with reasonable assurance that this pop-up is due to an embedded flash movie. I have the "adblock" extension installed, and used it to enter the following filter: http://*.casalemedia.com/ which blocks all content from that domain, such as images, external scripts, or embedded flash movies. After reloading the page, I did not receive the pop-up. With this filter enabled, I see only one URL from this domain in adblock's list of detected blockable sites. however, when I remove this filter again, adblock lists 2, one being a flash movie. it is my beleif that this domain first loads an external script to be embedded in the page, then that external script embeds a flash movie, which launches the pop-up. I suppose the reasoning for this is that other pop-up blockers are fooled by dynamic page content like this, but luckily the adblock extension picks up on it. it is easy enough to install this extension and block this domain, but, it would be nice for all of us if the main browser were able to counterract this instead. Also, I apologize if this is more of a feature request, as perhaps firefox is not intended to block windows opened by flash, but as this can be used to launch unrequested pop-up windows, I for one would like it to do so, or at least offer an advanced off-by-default feature.
Looks like bug 176079 to me *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 176079 ***
