Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.2 (Windows/20050317) Double-clicking the TB Desktop or Start-menu icon usually opens - as expected - the application's main window. When single message window is already open, but the main window has been closed nothing happens when the user tries to bring up the main window. While I know that you can show the main window using "Tools" -> "Mail & Newsgroups" most poeple don't. Making the application icons bring up the main window in *any* case would be a logical simplification. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Thunderbird 2. Create a new message or open any message in a separate window 3. Close the main window (e.g. 3-pane window) 4. Double-click one of Thunderbird's application icons (Desktop, Start-menu , ...) Actual Results: Nothing. Expected Results: The main window should become visible.
Same problem. If I open Thunderbird and start a new message, then close the main Thunderbird window, I can not re-open Thunderbird until I send or cancel the new message. Often I have numerous messages in process. If I close Thunderbird and then want to start another new message, I can't, because it thinks that it is already running and ignores my clicking on the Thunderbird shortcut.

I confirmed the same behavior with tb 1.0.2 on Win 2k3. However, the latest trunk build worked as expected.
