uploding messages and showing entire inbox takes 3-5 minutes. Or when deleteing
or changing from inbox to sent/drafts etc. it takes 3-5 mins again. Only on my
mail account.  our family has two others that seem to load quickly.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Starting thunderbird
2.3-5 minutes pass and then password prompt comes up
3.enter password and  messages/inbox is diplayed.

Actual Results:  
messages are displayed, but when changing from inbos to any other foldersit
takes 3-5 minutes for that folder to display and I also loose the inbox again.

Expected Results:  
Display messages upon opening. (Account settings are adjusted for this)
Not so sluggish when loading, or chnging from file to file.

do you have a virus checker installed? This sounds like a case of the virus
checker slowing things down enormously.
